A leopard attack in Simalpani-13, Sitganga Municipality, killed 15 goats at the Himalayan Goat Farming and Agriculture Farm.

On Wednesday afternoon, 30 goats went missing while grazing near the forest. By Friday, 15 goats were found alive, while 15 were discovered dead in the forest, the Simalpani police post reported.

One injured goat also died later, said farm owner Ghanshyam Adhikari. “We usually take the goats to the forest for grazing. The leopard attacked them on Wednesday,” he said. The dead goats had wounds on their necks and backs. They were found about one kilometer from the farm in Deurali–Pare community forest.

Adhikari opened the farm two years ago with an investment of around Rs 1.2 million. The farm also keeps chickens and pigs. Co-owner Bishnu Paudel said the total investment in the farm is over Rs 3.5 million. Earlier this year, 1,200 broiler chickens died in a single day. A group of five youths runs the farm together, and repeated losses have left the owners worried.
