Police arrested a man at Rajbiraj Airport on Monday for carrying a large amount of illegal foreign currency.
The arrested man is 33-year-old Mohammad Khursid Alam from Khadak Municipality-11, Saptari.
According to Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar KC, Alam was traveling from Rajbiraj to Kathmandu on a Buddha Air flight when airport police checked his belongings. They found 35,976 Saudi Riyals without a clear source.
Since he could not prove the money was legal, Alam was taken into custody, and legal procedures are underway. The seized money will be handed over to the Inland Revenue Office in Itahari, SP KC said.
