A shocking murder case has been revealed in Chhatradev rural municipality-4, Patalepokhara of Arghakhanchi.

Police found the body of 34-year-old Sumitra Kumal Gurung buried inside the kitchen of her own house. She had been missing for several days, and neighbors had informed police on 1 September.

Her husband, 36-year-old Kiran Gurung, originally from Syaulebang of Pyuthan, admitted to killing her on the night of 28 August after a dispute. Police said he attacked her with a bamboo stick and a sickle, wrapped the body in a blanket, and buried it in the kitchen.

The couple had been living together with their 9-year-old daughter for eight years. Both were in their second marriage, and Kiran had two daughters from his first marriage while Sumitra had three daughters from her previous husband.

Police recovered the murder weapons, digging tools, and liquor bottles from the house. Kiran had also threatened to kill his daughter if she told anyone about the crime, which is why she stayed silent.

Sumitra’s body has been sent to Arghakhanchi District Hospital for postmortem. Kiran has been arrested, and police are investigating him on murder charges.
