Man Shot Dead by Robbers in Saptari, Another Injured

A group of robbers shot and killed a man in Saptari district, while another person was injured in the attack.

According to Saptari Police Chief Dhakendra Khatiwada, 50-year-old Kantalal Chaudhary, son of Bhuran Chaudhary from Suryanag Municipality-8, Malhanama, was shot dead. His brother, Ramakant Chaudhary, was injured and has been taken to Provincial Hospital in Lahan for treatment.

The incident happened around 1 AM on Friday. A group of 4–5 robbers broke into the Chaudhary family’s home and began looting. When the family tried to resist, the robbers attacked.

Kantalal was first attacked with a sharp weapon and injured. He was then shot and died on the spot. Hearing the noise, his brother Ramakant came to help but was also attacked with sharp weapons on his head and back.

Locals said the robbers fled after looting around 5 tolas of gold, 2 kilograms of silver, and Rs. 50,000 to 60,000 in cash.

Police received information about the attack at 1:20 AM and immediately sent a team from the Dhati police post under the command of an Assistant Sub-Inspector. Later, another team of nine officers from the Area Police Office in Kadarbona and another nine from the District Police Office also reached the scene.

At the site, police recovered three unexploded bullets and one empty shell. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
