A fire broke out at the Nepal Electricity Authority substation located in Yogikuti, Tilottama of Rupandehi district.
According to the Area Police Office Butwal, the fire started around 9 PM on Tuesday due to an electrical short circuit. The fire has now been brought under control.
Two fire trucks from Butwal and Tilottama municipalities were used to fully control the fire within 10 minutes, said DSP Indra Bahadur Rana, chief of Butwal Police.
He added that quick action helped prevent major damage and loss.
The substation is close to residential areas in Butwal Ward No. 10 and Tilottama Ward No. 2. Following the fire, electricity supply to Butwal and Tilottama has been cut off.
Police said it will take some time to restore the power supply. The exact details of the damage caused by the fire are yet to be determined.
