Monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms across many parts of the country today, July 13, 2025. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a forecast warning of light to moderate rainfall in most areas, with the possibility of heavy rain in some provinces.
According to the latest report, the monsoon trough remains active, with its position close to the average in the east and slightly northward in the west. This system is expected to cause cloudy skies throughout the day.
During the afternoon and evening, several areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Light to moderate rain is also expected in other regions, including Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
In the high hill and Himalayan regions, including districts with higher elevations, there is a chance of light to moderate rainfall as well as snowfall in some places.
Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. The department has forecast continued showers with thunderstorms in several areas. Heavy rain is also possible in one or two places, particularly in Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
With the monsoon now fully active, the risk of landslides, flash floods, and waterlogging remains high in many parts of the country. The authorities have advised people living in vulnerable areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
The temperature is expected to range between 24°C and 33°C throughout the day.
People planning travel or outdoor activities are encouraged to follow weather updates and be cautious, especially in areas prone to heavy rain or flooding.
