Rabi Lamichhane returns to Nakkhu prison

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane has returned to prison.

He was in custody for a cooperative fraud case but left Nakkhu prison on September 9 during the GenZ protests, citing security reasons. Many criticized him for leaving without a court order.

On Saturday, Lamichhane released a video message on social media saying he was going back to prison on the occasion of his birthday. He said the previous government acted with political revenge against him, but now he hopes for justice under the new leadership.

Lalitpur police spokesperson Chakraraj Joshi confirmed that Lamichhane has already returned to Nakkhu prison.

Earlier, Lamichhane claimed he was released through proper legal process and even showed a release letter signed by prison officer Satyaraj Joshi. But the prison administration said the letter was fake and had asked all escaped inmates, including Lamichhane, to return immediately.
