The government has allocated the highest-ever budget for the sports sector.
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced a budget of Rs 6.08 billion for sports in the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.
Under this budget, a modern international-level stadium that can host all types of sports will be built in Damak, Jhapa.
High-altitude sports stadiums will also be built in mountainous areas like Solukhumbu and Mustang.
Additionally, Rs 400 million has been allocated to upgrade the TU International Cricket Ground.
A total of Rs 420 million has been set aside for upgrading the Mulpani, Fapla, Siddhartha, and Girija Prasad Koirala cricket grounds.
To host the 10th National Games in Surkhet, the government has allocated Rs 540 million.
