Nepal face North Korea in must-win U-20 women’s Asian Cup qualifier

Nepal will play its third and final match of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers against North Korea today in Thimphu, Bhutan.

The game will start at 1:45 PM at the Changlimithang Stadium. North Korea is a strong team, having won both the U-20 Women’s World Cup and the Asian Cup in the past.

Nepal drew 1-1 with Bhutan in the first match and defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the second. North Korea beat Saudi Arabia 15-0 and Bhutan 10-0 in their matches.

The last time Nepal faced North Korea in this age group (then U-19) was in the 2004 Asian Cup, where Nepal lost 19-0.

Only the group winners and the three best runners-up from all groups will qualify for the Asian Cup. Nepal must beat North Korea to secure qualification.
