The web version of Threads.com, Meta’s text-based social media platform, went offline in Nepal around 12:30 PM Nepal time, leaving users unable to access the site due to a redirection error.
Users trying to open Threads.com from desktop browsers were met with repeated redirects or “page not available” messages. The mobile app continues to function without issue.
The issue appears to have started after Threads transitioned its official domain from threads.net
to threads.com
. While the change was meant to streamline branding, it may have introduced technical glitches, especially in redirection handling. Users globally have reported similar problems on Reddit and other platforms.
Nepali users were among the first to report the issue, with many noticing the error during the early afternoon. Several said the site failed to load and got stuck in an endless loop, particularly when trying to view profiles or links.
As of now, Meta has not issued an official statement on the outage. However, users have been advised to report the problem through the Threads web menu using the “Report a Problem” option and selecting “Threads Bug Report.”
While there is no confirmed fix yet, users are encouraged to:
threads.net
.The problem seems to stem from a misconfigured redirect or backend issue following the domain migration. Since the mobile app is unaffected, it may be isolated to the web infrastructure.
More updates are expected once Meta acknowledges the situation or resolves the issue.
