Today’s weather in Nepal: August 28, 2025

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said that the monsoon trough is currently near its average position, and moist air from the Bay of Bengal is affecting Nepal’s weather.

At present, hilly areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with other provinces, are generally cloudy. Other parts of the country have partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim, and one or two places in Karnali province.

This afternoon, most parts of the country will remain generally cloudy. Moderate rain is likely in many places of hilly and Terai areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, in some places of Lumbini, and in a few hilly and Terai areas of other provinces. Heavy rainfall is also possible in one or two places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Thunderstorms are expected in some Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.

The department has warned that in the next 24 hours, heavy rain is likely in some hilly areas of Gandaki province and in hilly and Terai areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. People and authorities are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information.
