Meteorologists have predicted heavy rainfall in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces today, July 10. The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure line located near the average position in the east and slightly north in the west.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather this afternoon will be partly to mostly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, is likely in many parts of the country, especially in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Some areas in these provinces could experience heavy rainfall. Higher hilly and Himalayan regions may also see light to moderate rain, and snowfall is possible in some places.
The department also forecasts similar weather conditions tonight, with chances of thunderstorms and lightning in the hilly areas of all seven provinces. Light to moderate rain is possible in some other parts as well.
Due to the expected rainfall, there is a risk of floods, landslides, and increased river flow. People living in urban and Terai areas are advised to stay alert for possible waterlogging. Rising water levels in rivers and streams may affect daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, road transport near rivers, and even flights. The public and concerned authorities have been urged to take precautions and stay prepared.
