End of an era. Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially announced he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2024/25 season — closing the chapter on a 20-year-long journey that started when he was just a kid in the academy.
In a heartfelt social media post, the 26-year-old right-back called it “the hardest decision” of his life and said he’s ready to chase something new. While he didn’t name his next destination, all signs point to Real Madrid.
“This club has been my life, my world. The love and support I’ve received here is unforgettable,” Trent wrote. “But now I want to step out of my comfort zone.”
Trent leaves Liverpool as a legend. He’s won it all — the Champions League in 2019, Premier League titles in 2020 and 2025, and redefined what it means to be a right-back. His passing, vision, and flair changed the game.
While Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk recently extended their contracts, Trent’s future had been a big question mark. His current deal expires this season — and now we know, he’s moving on. If Real Madrid is next, it’ll be a free transfer, making him the latest Anfield icon to head to the Bernabéu after McManaman, Owen, and Xabi Alonso.
And yes, that means a reunion with Jude Bellingham could be loading.
“I’ll never forget these 20 years. My love for Liverpool will never die,” Trent signed off.
From West Derby to Wembley to the world — thank you, Trent.
