Liverpool head coach Arne Slot spent some time this week relaxing on the Spanish island of Ibiza. At the same time, some Liverpool players were seen resting in Dubai.
But now, Liverpool — who have already won the league title — are back to training from Friday. They still have two matches left. The first one is against Brighton on Monday.
Speaking about the team’s preparation, Slot said, “The training has gone well. It’s always tough to keep training every day when the title is already won. That’s why it’s important to balance rest and training.”
Slot also admitted that it’s not easy to motivate players after winning the title. “Everyone knows it’s hard. If we were still in the race for the Premier League, we might have taken a few days off anyway — maybe gone somewhere else,” he said.
He added, “These players didn’t really get a break all season. That’s something to think about.”
Liverpool played in the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, and Premier League throughout the season. Some other teams had rest periods, but Liverpool had very little time off.
