The post-mortem report of two sisters who were found dead in Bhaktapur has shown that the cause of death was hanging. According to SP Dhundiraj Neupane of the District Police Office, 17-year-old Menuka Kandel and 15-year-old Sirjana Kandel both died due to hanging.

“The report confirms hanging as the cause of death,” SP Neupane said. “However, the investigation is still ongoing. Their mobile phones have been sent for digital forensic tests, and we may find more information from that.”

The two sisters were found dead on July 24 (Shrawan 8) in a small shed next to a two-story house owned by Niraj Chakradhar in Sintitar, Madhyapur Thimi-9, Bhaktapur.

Originally from Panchapuri Municipality-8 in Surkhet, the sisters had reportedly gone missing in India. They had been living in a rented room in Bhaktapur for about two weeks before their deaths. Their cremation was done in Kathmandu nine days ago, and their family has now returned to Surkhet.
