A clash broke out between the Armed Police Force (APF) and a group of smugglers in Dhanusha while police were trying to stop illegal goods being brought from India.

The incident happened around 8:15 PM on Wednesday at an orchard in Duhabi, Ward 2 of Bideha Municipality.

According to officials, a team from the proposed Border Security Company in Mahinathpur, led by a DSP, tried to seize smuggled items. At that moment, smugglers and some locals threw stones at the police.

To control the situation, APF fired four rounds into the air using an SLR rifle. During the clash, some of the smuggled items were hidden by locals, but police managed to seize a motorcycle and some grocery goods.

DSP Shailendra Thapa, central deputy spokesperson of the Armed Police, said the seized goods and motorcycle are being handed over to the concerned authorities for further action.
