Kathmandu Spikers have signed Bulgarian volleyball player Polina Nikolaeva Neykova for the Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL).
The team announced Neykova as their first foreign player for the new season. The 27-year-old plays in the setter position and has experience playing for clubs in Bulgaria, France, and Azerbaijan. The team believes her arrival will make them more balanced and stronger. In the first season, another Bulgarian setter, Andre Tsvetanov, had also played for Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Spikers finished third in the first edition of the league and aim to come back stronger in the second season with a better performance on the court. Each team can sign up to three foreign players, and the club will announce the other two soon.
The team’s marquee player is Nepal national team’s main spiker Usha Bhandari. Other players include Manisha Chaudhary, Yamuna Rasaili, Rima Kunwar, Balmika Acharya, Kamala Pun, Ashika Chhetri, and Bhuvaneshwari Chand. The head coach is Lok Bahadur Budha.
The second season of the Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League will take place from September 5 to 13 (Bhadra 20–28).
