Nepal is playing against Thailand today in the final match of the Super Three stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.
The match started this morning at 8:45 AM (local time) at the Terdthai Cricket Ground, with Nepal bowling first after captain Indu Barma won the toss and chose to field.
Both Nepal and Thailand have already secured their place in the Global Qualifier. The winner of today’s match will be crowned champion of the Asia Qualifier.
On Monday, Nepal defeated UAE and reached the Global Qualifier for the first time ever. A day earlier, Thailand beat UAE to confirm their spot in the next round.
So far, Thailand is unbeaten in this tournament. They won two matches and had two games canceled in the group stage, and then beat UAE in the Super Three round.
Nepal’s captain Indu Barma said the team aims to beat Thailand and win the Asia Qualifier title. “We have nothing to lose now, so we will play positively,” she said.
In the group stage, Nepal beat Bahrain twice but lost to Hong Kong. As Hong Kong had one game against Nepal and both games against Bahrain affected by rain, Nepal advanced with more wins.
However, Nepal has never defeated Thailand in a Women’s T20 International match.
