Nepal is playing against Hong Kong today in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, which is taking place in Thailand.
The match between Nepal and Hong Kong, both in Group C, will be played at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok and will start at 12:35 PM (Nepal time).
This qualifier is being played in a double round-robin format. The first match between Nepal and Hong Kong was canceled due to rain before the toss could happen.
After that, Nepal defeated Bahrain and recorded its first win in the tournament.
On Monday, the match between Hong Kong and Bahrain was also affected by rain. Bahrain had scored 15 runs in 4 overs before rain stopped the game, and it couldn’t resume.
Hong Kong has been unlucky as both of its matches were affected by rain.
If Nepal wins today, they will top the group and qualify for the Super Three stage with one match still remaining. But if Nepal loses, their path to the next round will become more difficult.
In the last five T20 matches between Nepal and Hong Kong, Nepal has won two, Hong Kong has won one, and the last two were canceled due to rain.
There are 9 teams in the qualifier, divided into three groups. Only the top team from each group will reach the Super Three stage.
In the Super Three, the top three teams will play against each other, and the top two from that round will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
So far, the Nepali women’s team has never reached the Global Qualifier. This time, Nepal is aiming not only to reach that stage but also to qualify for the World Cup.
