On International Youth Day, Onlinekhabar announced its annual list of 40 Under 40 — young Nepalis making a positive impact in different fields.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli revealed the names and presented awards to the 40 selected youth during a special event in Kathmandu.

This is the second year Onlinekhabar has published the list. The aim is to highlight young people who are bringing change in society, even during difficult times.

Onlinekhabar’s chairman, Dharmaraj Bhusal, said, “Through 40 Under 40, we are trying to find those ‘fireflies’ shining in the darkness. Many people believe nothing is happening in Nepal, but these youths are proving otherwise.”

The selection process took around four months. Out of about 550 nominations received through applications and recommendations, the final 40 were chosen by a selection committee. The panel included former Supreme Court judge Anil Kumar Sinha, entrepreneur Chhaya Sharma, researcher Dr. Uttam Babu Shrestha, and Onlinekhabar’s editor-in-chief, Basanta Basnet.

Committee head Sinha said, “We carefully selected these hardworking and dedicated youths from across Nepal and abroad, using facts, logic, and fairness. They show that, while much remains to be done, progress is happening.”

Editor Basnet called the search for these youth an inspiring experience, adding that Onlinekhabar will continue to spotlight such hidden talents through news and analysis. He said the initiative will expand in the future to include even more deserving young people.
