River Plate has started the Club World Cup with a strong 3–1 win over Urawa Reds Diamonds on Tuesday. The Argentine team earned three points from the victory. Facundo Colidio, Sebastian Driussi, and Maximiliano Meza each scored one goal for River Plate.
In the same Group E match, Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds scored their only goal through a penalty by Yusuke Matsuo.
Meanwhile, in Group F, Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Ulsan Hyundai 1–0, with the only goal scored by Iqraam Rayners. This win put Sundowns at the top of the group with three points.
In another Group F match, Fluminense held Borussia Dortmund to a goalless draw.
