Two boys drowned this morning in a pond located inside the Namuna Community Forest in Arjundhara Municipality–11, Jhapa.
According to Jhapa District Police Office spokesperson Khagendra Khadka, the boys were 12-year-old Mahasus Gurung and 10-year-old Sujal Gurung. They were from Jirikhimti, Tehrathum, and were visiting the home of Purna Bahadur Rai in Arjundhara–11.
Around 8 AM today, the two boys went to the pond to swim. Locals noticed they had drowned and quickly rescued them, taking them to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared both boys dead at around 8:30 AM, police said.
Their bodies are currently being kept at the hospital.
