Today’s Weather in Nepal – June 27, 2025: Rain, Thunderstorms Likely in Hilly Areas

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting weather across Nepal.

Today, hilly regions across the country will see partly to generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. Light rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

During the day, there is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in several hilly areas and a few other places across the country. A few locations in the hills may also receive heavy rainfall.

Some high-hill and mountainous regions are expected to see light to moderate snowfall along with rainfall. Additionally, gusty winds may affect a few areas in the Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as parts of Madhesh Province.

For tonight, moderate rain with lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, and a few places elsewhere. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in one or two areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Due to the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall, the department has warned of rising river levels, flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion. It urges the public to stay alert and take necessary precautions to avoid risks to health, agriculture, daily life, and disruptions in road and air transport.
