Two young men drowned while swimming in the Surma River at Gauriganga Municipality-11 in Kailali.
According to police, 25-year-old Umesh Dhami and 20-year-old Prakash Dhami, both from the same area, died after drowning in the river.
The incident happened around 2:45 PM on Thursday. They had gone to swim in the Surma River, about 700 meters southwest of their home, when they suddenly went missing.
After being informed, a team from the Masuriya Area Police Office, along with help from local residents, searched the area and found both of them unconscious.
They were immediately taken to Seti Provincial Hospital, but doctors declared them dead.
Police said further investigation is ongoing.
