Curfew Lifted in Birgunj After Tensions Ease

The Parsa District Administration Office has lifted the curfew in Birgunj Metropolitan City starting this morning.

A meeting of the District Security Committee, led by Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, decided on Thursday to remove the restriction from 7:00 AM today, saying the security situation in Birgunj has returned to normal.

According to the committee, the curfew, which was in place in some areas of Birgunj since April 13 (Baisakh 1) under Section 6(3a) of the Local Administration Act 2028, has now been officially lifted.

The curfew was imposed after a clash occurred during a religious procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti last Saturday.
