Actress and model Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the Kaanta Laga girl, has passed away at the age of 42. She died late Friday night, June 27, in Mumbai after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
According to reports, Shefali suddenly complained of severe chest pain. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, along with friends, rushed her to Bellevue Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Shefali shot to instant fame in 2002 with the remix music video Kaanta Laga. Her appearance in the song made her a household name, especially among early 2000s pop culture fans in India.
Following her music video success, Shefali also appeared in several reality shows. She was a contestant in Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye 7 alongside her husband. In 2019, she joined the cast of Bigg Boss 13, where she received praise for her confidence and individuality.
