The second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will feature night matches for the first time.
Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) Secretary Paras Khadka shared in a podcast with franchise team Sudurpaschim Royals that some NPL games will be played under floodlights at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground in Kirtipur.
CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama confirmed the plan. “The TU ground is currently under construction. If the work is completed on time and conditions are suitable, we plan to hold night matches under floodlights,” Lama told Onlinekhabar.
The second season of NPL is scheduled for November–December 2025, with a mini auction planned for August.
Player registration for the auction closed last night. Lama said the final list of registered players will be published soon, and the auction date will be announced shortly.
The TU ground is currently being upgraded. In the first phase, a 15,000-capacity parapet and six floodlight towers are being installed.
Since the contractor missed the original deadline (end of Asar), the deadline has been extended with penalties, and construction is ongoing.
